Employee onboarding and support

The brief

Make employee support feel like asking a good colleague.

Starting in a supermarket comes with a stream of small, practical questions: where to find a form, how an app works, what happens on the first day and who to ask when something changes.

Human onboarding remains essential. Liza supports it by staying available after the introduction—ready to repeat an explanation without judgment and send someone to the right person when the question needs a human.

Design principle

“No worries. I’ll show you.”

Character strategy

The energy of the service desk, without the queue.

Liza was chosen from a broader family of digital-buddy concepts. Her approachable store-floor role made the right bridge between HR information and the everyday reality of a new colleague.

  • Cheerful without becoming childish
  • Practical and concise
  • Social, warm and easy to approach
  • Recognizable as part of the store team

The employee journey

One familiar face across three very different moments.

The conversation begins by understanding where someone is in their employment journey. That keeps the help relevant without requiring access to a personal employee account.

    Starting

    A warmer first step

Liza welcomes new colleagues, explains what to expect and points them to the right introductory documents and people.

  2. 02

    Working

    Practical help in the moment

Employees can ask about everyday processes, workplace rules and apps without searching through folders or waiting for the same answer again.

  3. 03

    Finishing

A clear way to wrap up

When someone leaves, Liza can explain the process, surface relevant forms and show who needs to be informed.

The live experience

The answer feels visible, not buried in a manual.

Liza combines plain-language replies with expressive reactions, useful links and a bilingual conversation. The result feels closer to a guided mobile experience than a traditional helpdesk chatbot.

Trust by design

Helpful enough to return to. Clear enough to trust.

Employee support is sensitive. Liza’s boundaries are part of the product: she explains what she can do, asks for consent and routes personal matters back to the people responsible for them.

Helpful, not personal

Liza is not connected to employee accounts. She guides people to the right process without pretending to know their roster or private HR data.

Built on approved knowledge

Documents, FAQs, forms and links supplied by Jumbo shape the answers and the routes Liza can recommend.

Consent comes first

A clear Dutch and English privacy screen explains what is stored, why it is used and how long it is kept before a chat begins.

Patterns, not profiles

Anonymous reporting helps reveal common topics and moments of friction without turning Liza into an employee-monitoring tool.

Character-led media

Liza can welcome people before the chat even opens.

The character system extends naturally into internal communication and launch content. Familiar store moments make the digital colleague feel like part of the team rather than a separate technology layer.

What the system changes

Employee information gets a front door people can actually find.

Liza brings character design, approved knowledge and clear boundaries into one always-available experience. Employees get a friendlier route to help; the organisation gets a consistent way to repeat the basics and learn where guidance is still unclear.

  • More approachableA recognizable colleague makes the first question easier to ask.
  • More consistentThe same approved explanation is available whenever it is needed.
  • More actionableAnswers end with the right document, link or human next step.

Turn repeated questions into a better first experience.

Give your employees an AI colleague that feels like part of the team.
